Macrostrat is a platform for exploring, integrating and analysing geological data. It aggregates geologic maps from data providers and links map polygons to rock columns, stratigraphic names and geochronological intervals. The site offers a searchable geologic map and an API. Interactive applications built on the platform are intended for educational and research purposes.
A People Map of the US is a map by Matt Daniels and Russell Samora that replaces city names with their most Wikipedia-viewed resident. Person and city associations were based on Wikipedia's "People from X city" pages, using English Wikipedia data collected from July 2015 to May 2019, with the top person determined by median pageviews.
Skimap.org is an archive of ski resort trail maps from around the world. It holds over 29,000 maps, with content dating back over 90 years, organized by region and including sections for recently added maps, maps from the current season, lost ski areas, and fantasy areas. Visitors are invited to share their own maps.
Orbatmapper helps discover apps, SaaS products, no-signup tools, clones, or software alternatives.
Tangram Heightmapper is an elevation data browser that auto-exposes the display so the highest and lowest visible elevations are white and black, producing a grayscale heightmap. The image can be exported and imported as a displacement map in 3D applications. Auto-expose can be unchecked to set minimum and maximum height levels manually.
A web-based data mining tool for OpenStreetMap that runs Overpass API queries and displays results on an interactive map. The site requires a browser supporting the Web Storage API and cross-origin resource sharing, and notes that a more capable browser may be needed.
