Weather service for forecasts, radar, alerts, hourly conditions, and local weather updates.
The World Data Center for Ionosphere and Space Weather, operated by NICT, preserves and distributes ionospheric and space weather data. Its holdings include Japanese and Antarctic ionospheric observations dating from 1957-1958 and space weather forecast data. Data is offered through monthly and yearly reports, ionosonde data, handwritten records, a historical viewer and a solar flare database.
The World Data Centre for Space Weather is part of and operated by the Australian Space Weather Forecasting Centre and is located in Sydney, Australia. It offers ionospheric, magnetometer, spectrograph, cosmic ray data and solar images for direct download, and provides software and data catalogue information. Commercial or industrial use of the data is prohibited without a previous written agreement.
ECMWF is the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, operating as both a research institute and a 24/7 operational service. It produces global numerical weather predictions and other data for its Member and Co-operating States and the broader community. The Centre maintains one of the largest supercomputer facilities and meteorological data archives in the world, and offers help and support resources.
The GOES 1–15 Space Environment Monitor covers space-weather instruments carried on NOAA's GOES 1–15 satellites, used since 1975 to monitor weather and space weather. The instruments measured particles, the magnetic field and solar irradiance and imaged the Sun. The page provides documentation, data and instrument details, noting that data anomalies should be checked against other sources.
The Climate Prediction Center is part of the National Weather Service and National Centers for Environmental Prediction. It provides outlook products including 6-10 day, 8-14 day, one-month, three-month and week 3-4 outlooks, along with a U.S. Hazards Outlook, drought information, and ENSO diagnostic discussions. The site also offers monitoring and data products covering El Niño/La Niña, the stratosphere, monsoons and the Pacific Islands.
Ventusky provides live weather maps showing wind, rain, radar and temperature, with over 50 weather layers and detailed forecasts. Data comes from weather forecast models including ECMWF, GFS, ICON and GEM.
Windy Webcams is a service that provides worldwide animated weather maps, wind and wave forecasts, weather radar, satellite imagery, and aviation weather data including METAR, TAF and NOTAM reports for various user groups.
A Canadian government website providing access to historical weather and climate information for numerous locations across Canada. It offers past hourly, daily and monthly weather data, climate normals, historical radar images, almanac averages and extremes, monthly climate summaries, and engineering climate datasets.
PRISM Climate Data is a project of the PRISM Group at Oregon State University that gathers weather observations, applies quality control and mapping methods, and develops spatial datasets showing short- and long-term weather patterns. Datasets cover 1895 to the present and are offered free of charge, with bulk downloads and single grid cell time series.
Nature This Week is a website that shows animal activity and other nature events near a selected location, tied to season, time of day and weather conditions. Species distributions and seasonal timing data come primarily from iNaturalist and Wikipedia, and weather conditions are retrieved from Open-Meteo. Events can be filtered by location and animal group.
SolarHam is a space weather and aurora website founded in 2006. It provides real time data and new updates, including solar indices, imagery, flare probabilities and geomagnetic forecasts. Its help center explains space weather terms such as coronal holes, coronal mass ejections and geomagnetic storms, and notes that the section is being built.
The AMRDC Data Repository is an Antarctic meteorological data repository operated by the Antarctic Meteorological Research and Data Center (AMRDC) and Automatic Weather Station (AWS) programs, sister projects of the United States Antarctic Program. It provides archival, preservation, access and metadata authoring services for Antarctic meteorological data, managing data from submission through to end-user retrieval. The repository hosts observational data from AMRDC and AWS projects, as well as campaign datasets from other Antarctic researchers.
Climate Data Online is a service of the National Climatic Data Center providing free access to an archive of global historical weather and climate data and station history information. Its data include quality controlled daily, monthly, seasonal and yearly measurements of temperature, precipitation, wind and degree days, plus radar data and 30-year Climate Normals. Data can be viewed online or ordered for delivery by email.
The TERENO Data Discovery Portal is a web portal for finding data observed by TERENO observatories and data from third parties. It supports free text search without prior knowledge of available data, advanced search by criteria such as observed parameters, sensor types and intended applications, and searching for data from a particular observatory. It also links to online applications for weather radar and interpolated soil water content data.
