Pngquant
Pngquant is a lossy PNG compressor that converts images to an 8-bit PNG format with alpha channel, often producing files 60-80% smaller than 24/32-bit PNGs. It uses palette generation and dithering, offers a configurable quality range, and supports batch conversion and Unix-style stdin/stdout chaining. The compression engine is also available as an embeddable library.
