UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot is the manually annotated and reviewed section of the UniProt Knowledgebase. It is a non-redundant protein sequence database that brings together experimental results, computed features and scientific conclusions. Since 2002 it has been maintained by the UniProt consortium and is accessible via the UniProt website.
The SWISS-MODEL Repository is a database of annotated 3D protein structure models generated by the SWISS-MODEL homology-modelling pipeline. It aims to provide an up-to-date collection of models for relevant model organisms and experimental structure information for sequences in UniProtKB. Users can search by UniProtKB accession or entry name, browse experimental structures, or search using free text.
CATH is a free online database providing information on evolutionary relationships of protein domains, developed by the Orengo group at University College London. Structures from the Protein Data Bank are split into domains and classified by class, architecture, topology and homologous superfamily. Gene3D adds sequence data from UniProtKB and Ensembl, assigning domains to superfamilies.
ExPASy is a bioinformatics resource portal maintained by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, providing free access to more than 160 databases and tools, including UniProtKB, SWISS-MODEL, STRING and PROSITE. Resources are listed as databases or software tools and assigned to topic categories such as genes and genomes, proteins and proteomes, and structural biology.
The Integrated Interactions Database (IID) is a resource for protein-protein interaction (PPI) data. It allows users to submit up to 1000 protein identifiers, including gene symbols, UniProt IDs, and Entrez Gene IDs, along with the source organism, to retrieve PPIs. Users can filter results by evidence source, including experimental and predicted data, and set minimum thresholds for experimental evidence. Retrieved results can be downloaded.
GDM Science Skills to speed up agentic scientific workflows with better grounding and higher token efficiency. Integrate insights from AlphaGenome, AFDB, UniProt and 30+ other databases and tools.
ViralZone is a knowledge resource for understanding virus diversity and a gateway to UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot viral entries. It provides descriptions, images and classifications of viral families and species, organized by genome type, and includes virus fact sheets and molecular biology pages. The site also offers ICTV virus metadata tables and links to resources for specific viruses.
