IFWiki is an encyclopedia of interactive fiction covering IF history, theory, craft, tools, and people. It serves as both a historical record of community knowledge and a guide to resources for playing and creating interactive fiction. The site also lists event news, competitions and jams, meetings, and announcements.
The IFWiki Cruelty scale page describes a rating system devised by Andrew Plotkin for measuring how difficult interactive fiction makes it for a player to progress past in-game obstacles. The classic scale has five ratings: Merciful, Polite, Tough, Nasty and Cruel, with definitions and examples.
