NMF.jl is a Julia package for non-negative matrix factorization, which factorizes a non-negative matrix into two lower-rank non-negative matrices. The nnmf function runs initialization and optimization in one call. Implemented methods include multiplicative update, projected alternating least squares, projected gradient and coordinate descent, with random and NNDSVD initialization.

A personal blog by Alex Smola titled Adventures in Data Land, covering machine learning topics. Entries include efficient LLM inference tutorials, random projections, effective sample size, voice agents and evaluation, and porting MXNet to Blackwell and Apple Silicon. Posts reference events such as the Machine Learning Summer School 2026 in NYC.
Birdland is a collaborative filtering recommendation library written in Go. It performs a random walk on a biased user-items bipartite graph to generate user-item pairs, which the recommender processes into recommended items. The project includes sampler and explorer components such as Bird, Emu and Weaver.
Manifold is a package for manipulating manifolds, built for Torch7. It is installed via luarocks and depends on the libatlas3-base package. The package offers basic functions such as computing neighbors and distances, and embeddings using random projections, LLE and tSNE. Demos are included, such as a t-SNE map produced on 5,000 MNIST digits.
