Storyboarder is a free, open-source tool for visualizing a story as storyboards. It offers six simple drawing tools, adding boards with a click, and entering dialogue, action, timing and shot type. Boards can be edited in Photoshop and update automatically on save. It is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
Pencil2D is an open source animation tool for making 2D hand-drawn animations, with raster and vector workflows. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and FreeBSD. The software is free to use, including commercially.

Fractorium is a GPU-accelerated fractal flame editor that uses OpenCL on AMD and Nvidia GPUs. It supports over 400 variations implemented on CPU and GPU, and offers installers for Windows, Mac and Ubuntu Linux.
