arthistoricum.net – ART-Books is an academic art book platform hosted by Heidelberg University Library. It is protected by Anubis, a Proof-of-Work anti-bot system designed to block aggressive AI scraping. Such scraping causes site downtime and makes resources inaccessible for legitimate users. Anubis is a temporary measure while the site develops fingerprinting to identify headless browsers, after which legitimate users will not need to complete the proof-of-work challenge. The system requires modern JavaScript and is incompatible with plugins like JShelter that disable these features.
