A three-part curriculum aimed to help beginners self-study mathematics, covering core undergraduate subjects, electives, and possible study tracks. It assumes a modest background, mostly high school mathematics, and emphasizes solving exercises and problems.
The Borr Project offers a pre-college mathematics curriculum built from online materials, covering topics such as calculus, discrete mathematics, linear algebra and probability. Courses are chosen to match the 2015 CUPM Guide and be open for enrollment. The curriculum can be completed in about two years with roughly 18-22 hours per week, and students may work alone or in groups.
WebGL Water is a browser demo by Evan Wallace that renders water with raytraced reflections and refractions, an analytic ambient occlusion, a heightfield water simulation, soft shadows and caustics. Users can draw on the water to make ripples, drag the background to rotate the camera, and press keys to pause or change light direction and gravity. It requires a decent graphics card and up-to-date drivers.
CommonOrganicChemistry is a website that presents reaction mechanisms, procedures, and details for commonly encountered organic chemistry reactions. It also lists common reagents, purification resources and links, jobs, internships, and chemical suppliers, CROs and CMOs.
OneZoom is an interactive tree of life explorer that shows how all life on Earth is related on a single zoomable page. Each leaf represents a different species, and branches illustrate evolution from common ancestors. The site offers guided tours and is a registered non-profit in the UK with products available for free.
Physics Aviary provides a collection of interactive tools for physics education, including graphing aids, circuit visualizers and simulations. Programs can be opened by clicking a picture or title, and a search engine helps locate a particular tool.
Periodic Table App is an interactive web application for the periodic table of elements. It allows users to search elements and view detailed information about their properties, orbitals and isotopes. The interface is designed for mobile devices and the app can work offline.
