Syncplay is free software that synchronises video playback across multiple media players, so people who have the same videos can watch them together. Pausing, unpausing and seeking are synchronized over the Internet. It is used alongside VoIP software such as Mumble or Skype. Supported players include mpv, mpv.net, MPC-BE, MPC-HC, VLC 3, IINA and memento.
SMPlayer is a free, open-source media player for Windows and Linux that includes built-in codecs for playing audio and video formats without external codec packs. It serves as a graphical interface for MPlayer and mpv, and can play and download YouTube videos, find subtitles, generate thumbnails and resume playback. It is available in more than 30 languages.
Hyperbeam is an API that lets developers embed virtual computers in web apps. It allows opening third-party websites or applications, synchronizing audio and video among multiple participants, and adding multi-user control with a few lines of code. It supports audio call echo cancellation and lists additional features such as programmatic control and WebGL support.
Elementum is an addon for Kodi that manages a virtual library and syncs with a Trakt account. The site provides download files for the addon, a repository, LT2http, Burst, and a context helper. Support for the video addon and Burst script is limited.
StreamLink is a command-line utility that extracts video streams from various services and pipes them into a video player such as VLC or mpv. It uses a plugin system to support services including Twitch and YouTube, and a Python API is available for developers. The project was forked from Livestreamer, which is no longer maintained.
The WIP Skins section is a subforum of the Kodi Community Forum for skins in progress. Threads cover skins such as Arctic Fuse, Arctic: Zephyr, Bingie and Aeon Core, with some marked deprecated or beta. It also contains important threads on thread tagging and rules for the subforum.
