The Internet Classics Archive provides 441 works of classical literature by 59 different authors, mainly Greco-Roman works with some Chinese and Persian, all in English translation. It has operated since 1994 and is run by Daniel C. Stevenson, Web Atomics. A copy was taken over by MIT IS&T after the classics.mit.edu site stopped responding. The site states that all works are, to its knowledge, in the public domain.

Educational & Academic Books
Educational and academic books gathers textbooks, course readers, and digitised collections for study. Listings include open textbook libraries, university repositories, government archives, and classic texts in translation. What sets them apart is access and reuse, since some are free to read and adapt, others are limited to a library or an institution, and a few cover one subject in depth. Compare the editions on offer, whether a text is peer reviewed, and how the source handles copyright. These collections support study and research, and they are not a shortcut around a publisher's rights.
